Your role & work environment

The Tribe Lead for CDD & Screening sets the Standard on the what and the how on the CDD and Screening processes in terms of tooling and models towards the Retail and Wholesale countries including the 2000 FTE executing the CDD and Screening processes locally or in the ING Hubs. The purpose of the job is to (re)define a risk based approach towards KYC risk in the CDD and Screening processes together with Compliance colleagues and validated by the Global FCP Committee and translate this into effective and efficient processes that maximise STP (Straight through processing) and minimizes the impact on the customer experience. The purpose is to set the standard on what and how in line with the DNBs / ECB order to do so we are opening our processes for more Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning and Gen AI solutions minimizing manual work. The Tribe Lead is the primary responsible in the first line for the CDD and Screening processes for ING Global as well as the ING DBNL organisation.

It is the mission of the CDD & Screening Tribe to become more efficient and effective and to open the CDD journeys towards Analytical Solutions like Machine Learning and Generated Artificial Intelligence solutions. At the same time the tribe is bringing the Global and DBNL CDD areas together to implement one standard into the process. The tribe lead will drive and implement these changes which will lead to a more streamlined delivery organisation and a much more efficient and effective process that requires less FTE.

The Tribe Lead also brings in the entrepreneurial thinking and drive to ensure in line with commercial targets double down on efforts to improve the customer experience and remove friction. This means for Retail customers lead effortswith business to support the digital customer onboarding process on OneApp supporting KYC validation processes i.e. CDD new to bank KYC passport confirmation for existing ING customers of ING Bank in another country. Thereafter be the primary CDD PoC driving the bank wide targets towards digitalization STP excellent customer experience.

You will lead a team of 200 FTE across Business and Tech in the Netherlands and Hubs.

As a lead you will work closely together with Retail FCP and Wholesale FCFP KYC leads Hub leads and a broad range of colleagues in the FCFP domain.

You report to the Head of Delivery Data & AI transformation within the global FCFP organization.

Your Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose long-term business plans for the CDD and Screening product areas within ING ensuring these plans support the strategic direction of both ING global and DBNL organisation.
  • Recommend and realise financial and headcount budgets and propose business targets focused on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of CDD and Screening processes.
  • Schedule and manage key activities and projects coordinating closely to ensure alignment and integration with other parts of ING global and DBNL organisation
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Tribe Area vision including horizon scanning by exploring and thoroughly understanding external developments and emerging issues that may impact or benefit the KYC domain. This includes monitoring regulatory changes advancements in technology (such as Analytics and Gen AI) and market innovations.
  • Provide leadership and direction by clearly identifying and communicating the actions needed to implement the functions strategy and business plan within the CDD and Screening product areas aligning these with the broader organisations vision mission and values.
  • Design and implement an organizational structure to achieve strategic objectives attracting and motivating the right talent to commit to and deliver extraordinary results.
  • Manage people effectively by guiding the Tribe through significant HR changes: reducing some positions creating new opportunities in Analytics and Gen AI and shifting the location mix to make greater use of ING Hubs capabilities.
  • Oversee stakeholder management in a complex environment engaging with global colleagues across both first and second line KYC leads in various countries other Tribe Leads within DBNL and Tech colleagues in both Global and DBNL to ensure successful delivery of strategic changes.
  • Work closely with both Retail and WB colleagues to ensure in light with financials and QBR demand drive prioritization for key items. At the same time leveraging on the global view identify opportunities that can we embedded across business lines.
  • Ensure one global roadmap approved by relevant stakeholders mobilizing all resources and enablers units i.e. Tech INGA Services are fully on board. There should be no side steering in countries & Hubs unless initiatives substantiated by a local regulatory demand.
  • Ensure one global roadmap is agreed signed off by all stakeholders timely within Q3 of every year including DP handshake for the following year. Improve DP quality for Tribe working closely with Finance and subsequent info in SNOW and/or Azure.
  • Build strong partnership and collaboration model with RB WB (recently live on global tool) and others e.g. BB in the future driving their needs and commitments.
  • Given the regulatory & compliancy focus towards AI transformation drive and take ownership of defining business cases for POC/MVP including ROI (return of investment). In general bring documentation hygiene for all changes i.e. BRD (business requirements document) FRD (functional requirements document) project plan UAT/SIT testing Operational Readiness etc.
  • Importance of efficiency and CX in FCFP has further increased in 2025. Business cases are not standardized though and benefits realisation is hard to manage. So for all initiatives leading to efficiencies in terms of automating/STP manual processes you are responsible to ensure the benefits are in-line with business case ROI. Therefore work closely with the Benefits Management lead to define strategy/metrics and reporting on a monthly/quarterly basis ensuring transparency. You are responsible to materialize the saving targets as a KPI.
  • For all AI transformation initiatives you act as model owner and/or delegate and work closely with the full model life cycle i.e. model development model implementation & model validation team.
  • Responsible for leading CAS/audit regulatory reviews for your department ensuring no exception & zero tolerance missing timelines including drafting action plans.

With combined oversight of CDD & Screening products you are responsible to find synergies efficiencies across the domains to ensure the processes are effective & efficient across the tooling data reporting domains.

We are looking for

A leader who will act as a behavioural role model with focus on delivery and content displaying the following behaviours and skills:

  • Masters Degree or equivalent level

  • Minimal 10 years of experience in KYC or similar role
  • Relevant track record of working in the area of CDD and Screening and thorough understanding of the current market
  • Understanding of key regulations (such as FEC ESR FATCA CRS) and their respective effects on the operational landscape of CDD including the interaction with the 2nd line.
  • Proven track record in organizing and planning large changes
  • Proven track record in senior management and stakeholder communication
  • Ability to display style flexibility and adapt plan approach and behavior to the different needs and situations
  • Strong organizational sensitivity: ability to understand and take into account the underlying issues opportunities and dynamics of an organization
