Chief Credit Officer

Angott Search Group is pleased to partner with TBA Credit Union in their search for a Chief Credit Officer.

TBA Credit Union is a $375 million locally managed community credit union based in Traverse City Michigan serving anyone who lives within the state. For more than 50 years the credit union has been dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve financial well-being through a wide range of checking savings lending and investment services.

This role supports TBACUs mission by identifying member needs and recommending financial solutions while overseeing credit and risk strategy for the commercial lending portfolio. It leads Commercial Credit Processing Administration and Risk directing credit policies underwriting standards loan review audit preparation and regulatory compliance. Through cross-department collaboration strong team development and effective credit frameworks the position ensures safe sound portfolio growth operational excellence and exceptional service for members.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop teams across Commercial Credit Processing Administration and Risk; provide guidance performance feedback and ensure process accuracy and policy alignment.
• Manage projects track progress and coordinate stakeholders for on-time completion.
• Review loans as part of the credit committee.
• Oversee risk ratings trend analysis and early warning indicators.
• Monitor concentration risk loan performance and credit analysis.
• Administer the annual credit risk plan including portfolio targets concentration limits stress tests and remediation strategies.
• Manage independent loan reviews and evaluate underwriting quality documentation and covenant compliance.
• Coordinate response plans with leadership and oversee problem loan management including restructures forbearance litigation liquidation and recovery.
• Maintain LOS/Core integrations and drive automation and data integrity.
• Partner with IT/Data to enhance credit analytics.

Education: Bachelors degree in business finance or a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.

Experience: 10-15 years experience in commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management required. 5 years of direct leadership experience required. Previous project management experience with results preferred.
