Primary Purpose:
Ensure efficient operation of assigned office and assist with administrative duties.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient typing word processing and file maintenance skills
Effective organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets databases and perform word processing
Standard English usage spelling grammar and punctuation
Interpersonal skills including tact courtesy confidentiality and patience
Learning interpreting applying and explaining applicable rules policies and procedures related to the work
Performing a variety of responsible and office administrative support work with a minimum of supervision
Compiling and maintaining accurate and complete records files and reports including attendance records
Using sound independent judgment within general policy and procedural guidelines
Prioritize work load performing several tasks at one time and meeting critical deadlines
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all staff and stakeholders including parents and students
Maintain professionalism
Experience:
Two years of clerical experience preferably in public education environment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide general clerical support to assigned office
- Maintain copiers including contact for repairs as well as routine operations
- Answer telephone and greet visitors including students
- Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents required
- Maintain confidentiality and student discipline sign in log
- Maintain physical and computerized files
- Supervision of students in the discipline office to maintain student behavior and maintain an orderly atmosphere
- Maintain accurate and complete attendance records registers and files as required by law
- Complete and return all forms reports referrals and documentation as required by pupil accounting or attendance officer
- Enter data into computer system as directed
- Issues tardy slips and absence slips
- Assists in upholding and enforcing policies concerning school attendance
- Keeps principal and staff informed of student absences
- Assist secretary with routing office operation; answering telephone taking and delivering messages operating office equipment keeping supplies in order monitor discipline referrals from teachers and assist in training student aides if used by the office.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Regular attendance.
- Other related duties as assigned.
