Note

You must have at least 2 years of litigation paralegal or strong legal assistant experience ideally involving medical injury product liability or wrongful death matters.
This is an on-site part-time role dedicated to one case averaging 20 to 25 hours per week.
Only candidates who can reliably commute to Overland Park Kansas will be considered.

Job Description

Support attorneys on a single high-profile case from initial filings through trial and post-trial work.
Manage case files deadlines and calendars; track caseload requirements and billable time.
Conduct legal research on statutes regulations case law and legal articles.
Draft and proofread pleadings discovery responses motions correspondence and hearing/trial materials.
Request organize and analyze medical and billing records; summarize key findings for attorneys.
Assist with deposition preparation including witness and expert research and exhibit preparation.
Coordinate with clients witnesses experts and opposing counsel to schedule meetings depositions and court appearances.
Handle e-filing in Missouri Kansas and federal courts as needed.
Provide administrative support related to the case including proofreading citation checking and document organization.

Qualifications

2 years of prior legal experience with a focus on litigation; experience in medical injury product liability or wrongful death is strongly preferred.
Paralegal or legal assistant background with exposure to complex civil litigation.
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
Solid understanding of court rules filing procedures and litigation terminology.
Exceptional organization attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Professional communication skills and comfort working directly with attorneys clients and external parties.
