POSITION SPECIFICS

ThePenn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI)is seeking anElectrical Systems Specialistwith experience inelectricalpower systemsoperationsand maintenancetojoin our team andhelpadvanceour missionofassistingfacility managers across the Commonwealthof Pennsylvaniawithimprovingthesafety reliability and efficiency of their facilityselectricalsystems.

AsanElectrical System Specialist you will join a team of other specialists and engineerswho applytheirelectrical systemsexpertiseand problem-solving skillstoprovide clients with technical insightand services focusedonpower systemsthat are critical to thesuccessfuloperationof theirfacilities.Therecommendations andservicesyou providesupportmission-criticaloperationsacrossthe Commonwealth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performpreventative maintenance and testing servicesof low and medium voltageelectricaldistribution equipmentincluding switchgear circuit breakers transformers relaysandcablingincoordinationclient site maintenance personnel.

  • Troubleshoot electrical system issuesinvestigatefaults perform minor corrective repairs and respond to emergency power interruptionsand outages.

  • Assessclientelectricalsystemsand recommend servicestoimprove reliability compliance and safety and developprojectscopesandobjectivesbased on recommendations provided.

  • Plan and manageprojectactivities including schedulingpersonnelcoordination materialneeds electrical outages and safeworkprocedures.

  • Preparetechnical reportssummarizingprojectactivities observations actions taken testresults and recommendations for follow-up.

  • Provide on-site training to client maintenance personnelin electrical safety operations and maintenancepractices.

  • Offer off-site (remote) client technical support includingtroubleshootingassistance corrective actionrecommendations andresponses totechnical inquiriesthroughverbal and written communication.

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 6 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Additional Information:

  • Thisposition is a blend ofoffice and fieldwork that primarily requires day travel withoccasional overnightstays.

  • This position is based at the PSFEI office in State College PAadjacent tothe Penn State University Park campus.

  • Flexible work arrangements including hybrid or remote options may be available depending on operational needs and job responsibilities.Questions related to flexible work arrangements should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

  • A valid drivers license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check are.

  • Security clearances may befor access to certain client sites.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $61800.00 - $89600.00.
