Require a Lead Project Horticulturist who will:
Select appropriate tree and plant species based on specific dimensions and specifications
Conduct regular inspections of plant stock at local supplier nurseries
Provide maintenance and long-term growth advice to clients
Offer professional feedback on plant placement from initial stages through to project completion
Position Overview
An experienced professional horticulturist is required to be part of the Diriyah Square development team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will serve as the botanical expert with full autonomy for quality control
and a single point of accountability for the residential/commercial/mixed-use development project.
A key primary responsibility will be the turnaround and recovery of existing stock with the result of delivering a world-class landscape come the opening day.
Plant Selection and Specification (30%)
* Evaluate and select appropriate tree and plant species based on:
- Site-specific conditions (soil type sun exposure drainage patterns)
- Project aesthetic and architectural requirements
- Seasonal appearance and maintenance needs
- Sustainability factors and water conservation goals
- Mature growth dimensions and root system requirements
* Review and advise on detailed plant specifications including size quality standards and growing conditions
* Review and advise on plant palettes aligned with project design intent and environmental conditions
Nursery Stock Management (25%)
* Conduct systematic regular inspections of existing tree and plant stock at supplier nurseries
* Evaluate plant health structural integrity and conformance to project specifications
* Tag and document selected specimens for project use
* Coordinate with suppliers regarding delivery schedules and special handling requirements
* Ensure quality control through all phases of plant procurement
Client Advisory Services (25%)
* Provide expert guidance on long-term maintenance requirements for selected plant species
* Develop seasonal care schedules and growth projection timelines
* Advise on irrigation systems and water management strategies
* Create maintenance documentation for facilities management teams
* Educate client stakeholders on appropriate care practices and lifecycle expectations
Oversight Installation (20%)
* Provide professional feedback on placement decisions from initial planning through installation
* Supervise critical planting operations including:
- Root ball preparation and inspection
- Proper planting depth and techniques
- Soil amendments and mulching practices
- Initial stability and support systems
* Conduct post-installation inspections and recommend adjustments as needed
* Monitor plant establishment and early growth phases
Qualifications :
Qualifications and Requirements
* Bachelors degree or higher in Horticulture Botany Landscape Architecture or related field
* Minimum 10 years professional experience in large-scale landmark projects.
* Demonstrated expertise in Saudi Arabia plant species and growth characteristics
* Strong understanding of soil science and plant physiology
* Proficiency with landscape design software and plant database systems
* Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences
* Valid drivers license and ability to travel to nurseries and project sites
* Professional certifications preferred (specify relevant certifications for your region)
