Job Summary

Operating System Engineer Consumer PCs

Description -

Responsibilities
Acts as a subject matter expert responsible for Microsoft and Windows Operating System related engagements and Performance and Power issue management for HP Consumer PC products.

Communicates Microsoft related program progress escalations and issue analysis to product stakeholders.

Works with cross functional teams within HP and partners (silicon vendors IHVs) to isolate and resolve product issues in a timely manner.

Performs testing and analyzing identify and resolve Performance and Power issues ensures the reliability and quality of the targets in the market.

Leads the preparation and creation of specifications and technical requirement for software systems operation or features which would impact system power & performance.

Deeply dives with good understanding on specifications or requirements for new technologies to be introduced on future products.

Oversees work of others related to improving the performance and reliability of the organizations software systems infrastructure.

Correctly articulate and drive complex topics to resolution back to Microsoft representing the business needs from HP with good presentation and communication skills.

Provide timely and accurate status updates.

Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members.


Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically has 7-10 years of work experience preferably in systems engineering computer programming language or a related field.

Ability to break down technical work into manageable tasks provide accurate time estimates and meet established project deadlines. Must be capable of clearly communicating task status and proactively reporting potential risks or issues to the manager.

Knowledge & Skills
Expertise of complex software systems including Windows OS middleware firmware and embedded systems.

Expertise of bug management SW / HW feature enablement and related working experience in the PC (Notebook / Desktop) industry.

Experience on performance and benchmark tools and metrics such as Windows Performance Toolkit (Windows Assessment Console Windows Performance Recorder Windows Performance Analyzer) HWInfo CineBench Mobilemark.

Experience on Event Trace Log (ETL) analysis for troubleshooting and resolving complex Performance and Power issues with software applications and OS.

Experience on Power BI design and development and toolkit development for automation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.

Proactive attitude strong problem solving skills or process improvements.

Ability to effectively communicate program plans proposals and negotiate options.

Preferred: Familiar with OEM and ODM working model.

Plus: Relevant industry certifications (e.g. PMP Microsoft 365 Certifications ITIL) and / or hands-on experience with Configuration Management tools (e.g. SCCM Intune Ansible).

Impacts function and leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives.

Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
