Variable Shifts: 6:00am-2:30pm 2:15pm-10:45pm 10:30pm-7:00am

Occassional weekends as needed

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the operation organization of the Central Collection department and for carrying out the philosophy and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Management Team. Foremost among these responsibilities are strictly adhering to detail in the performance of laboratory procedures solving practical problems resolving conflict and implementing constructive change.

Responsibilities

Phlebotomy

  • Performs venous arterial and capillary blood collection processing and delivery of specimens to departments within Trinity Laboratory. Consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following protocol for patient sample and identification and labeling.
  • Educates others and maintains knowledge of departmental functions policies and procedures including AIDET and Focus value.
  • Assists with the training new employees being helpful supportive in the teaching of new associates.

Quality Assurance

  • Complies with procedures and services including QA guidelines in consultation with the assigned laboratory supervisor.
  • Performs technical procedures within specified turnaround time for assigned area.
  • Is responsible for executing and monitoring technical practices of the department in order to meet necessary standards recommendations and requirements of voluntary and government agencies (ie. CAP JCAHO)

Qualifications

Education:High School diploma or courseMedical AssistantAssociate of Arts preferred.

Experience: Experience with phlebotomy preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Communication skills including reading writing & speaking fluent englishAdaptability customer/patient focusedInterpersonal skills andSelf-development.

Lifting Requirements:Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
