The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a qualified individual for the Compliance Analyst (Functional Program Analyst 3) position. This role is within the Consumer Protection Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office.

About the Position

Are you passionate about protecting Washington consumers and ensuring insurance companies play by the rules Were looking for a skilled Compliance Analyst who enjoys solving problems advocating for people and making a tangible difference in the lives of residents.


In this key position you will:


  • Independently investigate consumer complaints and analyze insurer responses to ensure compliance with state laws.
  • Advocate for consumers and take corrective action when violations or unfair practices are identified.
  • Document cases thoroughly and communicate findings clearly to both consumers and insurers.
  • Respond to questions on the Consumer Hotline and assist walk-in visitors with insurance inquiries.
  • Educate the public industry representatives and community groups about consumer rights and insurance regulations.
  • Review and update assigned web content to keep information accurate clear and accessible.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $5137 - $6906.

Duties

The duties of the position include but are not limited to:


  • Independently perform professional-level research to resolve consumer complaints and respond to consumer inquiries and provide consumer advocacy and education.
  • Answer questions on the Consumer Hotline and for Consumer Walk-in visits.
  • Web Review/Update and perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • Six (6) years of professional work experience* in areas such as regulatory examinations; insurance underwriting compliance rating or claims;health care consumer issues; or health care benefit plan design distribution or administration.

5 years ofexperience


*A degree inbusiness administration public administration public health health administrationor related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or a foreign equivalent may be substituted for relevant experience. Proof of degree may be required prior to employment. If a degree was awarded outside of the United States candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic level skills in Microsoft Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel
  • Demonstrated experience working independently prioritizing work and meeting multiple conflicting deadlines including by seeking guidance from leadership


Preferred/Desired Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated experience collecting data conducting quantitative and/or qualitative research and analyzing results to make an informed decision or conclusion.
  • Intermediate-level experience using Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Fluent verbal communication skills in Spanish Korean Russin Vietnamese Mandarin or Cantonese with the ability to score Advanced Mid-skill level on the oral proficiency assessment by the American Council for the Testing of Foreign languages.
