Functional Strategy Formation
Contribute to the formation of a key element of functional strategy through specialist
expertise and insights to ensure that the strategy meets business needs.
Health Safety Energy and Environment
Ensure that business activities and individuals within a significant area of responsibility
adhere to the organizations Health Safety Energy and Environment (HS&E) policies
procedures and mandatory instructions; to safeguard the environment protect the wellbeing
of individuals and minimize business risk.
Business Requirements Identification
Elicit complex business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews
document analysis workshops and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms
of target user roles and goals.
Information and Business Advice Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures
resolving complex or contentious queries and issues and enabling others to take appropriate
actions.
Regulatory and Compliance Management
Help design and implement a compliance program liaising with the regulator to ensure the
program adheres to regulatory and compliance standards. This may also involve supervising
the activities of a regulatory/compliance team.
Regulation and Registration
Develop internal communications plans and work collaboratively with other departments to
improve internal relationships and to build strong understanding of regulation and
registration requirements.
External Communications
Manage certain aspects of the external communications system with some guidance from
senior colleagues. This could mean being responsible for the development or operation of
the system in line with internal procedures and ISO 45k 14k and 50k standards.
Leadership and Direction
Communicate the actions needed to implement the functions strategy and business plan
within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organizations mission vision and
values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local
business goals.
Budgeting
Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
Performance Management
Manage and report on the performance of a substantial diverse team; set appropriate
performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold
individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where
necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
Organizational Capability Building
Use the organizations formal development framework to identify the teams individual
development needs. Plan and implement actions including continuing professional
development specified by professional or regulatory institutions to build their professional
capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in
own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
