We currently have an opening for a Legal Counsel at Smit Lamnalco.
As Legal Counsel you will:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of tender documents assess contractual risks and provide clear legal guidance during tender evaluations and commercial contract negotiations.
- Draft review and negotiate international commercial contracts including marine service agreements charter agreements maintenance agreements and potential joint venture arrangements.
- Monitor legislative regulatory and case law developments providing timely advice on legal matters affecting the business operations.
- Support contract lifecycle management by developing standardized legal processes drafting templates and delivering internal training.
- Advise and support on vessel sale and purchase transactions ownership transfers and flag registrations.
- Prepare corporate documentation including transaction-specific powers of attorney and resolutions and support (new) legal structures and local entities ensuring corporate governance compliance.
- Provide legal support in disputes including claim recovery settlement negotiations litigation management and coordination with external counsel.
Qualifications :
You are the Legal Counsel we are seeking if you meet the following criteria:
- Holds a Bachelors and masters degree in law.
- Has demonstrable experience as a legal counsel in an international environment preferably within the maritime oil and gas sector or other relevant international industries.
- Possesses strong knowledge of international contract law and corporate law has experience in claim handling and familiarity with maritime insurance matters.
- Demonstrates a critical and analytical mindset with a constructive solutions-oriented approach while balancing legal risks with commercial objectives.
- Is a proactive hands-on problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Works effectively in a team and collaborates across functions.
- Exhibits strong communication organizational and stakeholder-management skills.
- Can manage multiple priorities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Is fluent in English both written and verbal.
You must be eligible to work in the Netherlands. The recruitment process will include an assessment or test.
