Director of Community Safety Resilience and Cohesion
Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

As Director of Community Safety Resilience and Cohesion youll play a pivotal role in shaping a safer stronger and more connected Birmingham for our 1.2 million residents. This is your opportunity to lead critical services that protect lives foster community trust and ensure the city thrives in the face of challenges.
Were seeking a strong and influential leader to head up the Community Safety & Resilience Division within our City Operations Directorate driving strategic initiatives and operational excellence across a diverse portfolio including:
- Emergency Planning and Resilience
- Counter Terrorism and Prevent
- Lead Birminghams Community Safety & Resilience Division to keep the city safe clean and connected.
- Develop and implement strategies and policies to meet national requirements and statutory duties.
- Oversee emergency planning and business continuity ensuring city-wide resilience and preparedness for major incidents.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with West Midlands Police Home Office emergency services and community leaders.
- Represent the Council at local and national forums providing expert advice and leadership during high-risk situations.
- Drive transformation and improvement projects making best use of digital technology and data to enhance performance.
- Ensure compliance with legislation including the Civil Contingencies Act Counter Terrorism Act and Crime and Disorder Act.
- Lead a culture of excellence inclusion and continuous improvement across the division.
- Manage significant budgets and resources effectively ensuring value for money and sustainability.
- A proven senior leader with experience in public safety resilience or related fields.
- Strategic vision and operational expertise to manage high-risk high-impact services.
- Ability to build strong partnerships across agencies and communities.
- Commitment to innovation transformation and value for money.
