Job Summary
About the Job
Manages the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment of WMs largest sites and establishes and maintains performance and productivity metrics and cost management processes. WMs largest sites are determined by the Vice President Collection and Fleet Operations.
The Sr District Fleet Manager II primary focus will by managing the Hyattsville MD location. The Hyattsville MD location is the largest hauling site within the Capitol Market Area with a fleet size of 100 collections trucks 51 Trailers and 51 Tractors. Position will have oversite of 1 Fleet Manager 3 Maintenance Supervisors 1 Operations Specialist and 18 Technicians.
Position will eventually expand to have oversite of our Southern MD Hauling facility with a fleet size of 47 Trucks and oversite of 1 Fleet Manager 1 Operations Specialist and 8 Technicians.
What Youll be Doing
- Continually focuses on achieving profitability through effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities within the assigned area including cost control employee development and high performance training and safety standards.
- Reviews capital equipment requisitions in line with Corporate guidelines and objectives.
- Ensures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
- Manages effective utilization of vehicle assets.
- Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
- Ensures maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
- Ensures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
- Complies with and ensures adherence to WMs Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Meets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Assists in budget process as required.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting coaching disciplining and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination compensation and promotion decisions.
- Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic driver/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale productivity and efficiency.
- Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Performs other job related duties or projects as assigned.
What does it take to be a Sr Fleet Manager II with WM
A. Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience
- 7 years of relevant experience (in addition to education requirement)
- Drivers License Valid Drivers License

The expected base pay range for this office/on-site position is $103070 - $133870. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates relevant experience education training certifications qualifications and work location.
