Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Engineering Manager performs basic handyman tasks associated with general building and grounds maintenance and upkeep.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Installs and replaces light fixtures lamps and ballasts. Uses electrical measuring instruments to perform troubleshooting on outlets modular furniture circuits and small appliances.
- Performs routine minor preventive maintenance such as filter replacement belt change out motor lubrication and thermostat calibration on heating ventilation and cooling systems. Assists with corrective maintenance and other tasks including but not limited to periodic cleaning and maintenance of cooling towers and air conditioning units.
- Conducts daily inspections of facilities and equipment to identify issues.
- Performs minor corrective maintenance to plumbing equipment and fixtures to include stopping minor leaks; cleaning blockages and overflows; replacing seals and washers gaskets and filters; and installing or rebuilding flush assemblies. Works on sinks toilets drinking fountains faucets. Performs preventive maintenance to ice machines.
- Performs general maintenance on real property to include but are not limited to repair floor coverings wall patching painting hardware maintenance ceiling tile replacement bathroom stall repair and sign mounting. Replaces batteries and adjusts clocks.
- Moves furniture assembles modular furniture cubicles. Hangs pictures signs marker boards clocks and wall-mounted cabinets. Installs plastic floor mats. Packs loads delivers and unloads boxes of supplies furniture records and files for storage or disposal. Drives company truck and electric carts to pick up and deliver various items. Performs other tasks of similar nature.
- Assists with grounds maintenance to include: policing grounds; moves picnic tables benches and trash receptacles; operates blower and pressure washer to clean drive ways walkways stairs and garage floors. Removes ice snow mud and water from walkways and driveways.
- Conducts daily outside grounds inspection and removes trash utilizing company electric cart.
- Makes minor adjustments to building management systems. Siemens Insight and Niagara.
- Coordinates with and assists various contractors as directed by the Facilities Engineering Manager.
- Performs other tasks as requested to support company programs and activities.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
Work Experience
- One year of experience in similar work
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must possess basic handyman skills
- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to skillfully and safely operate standard workshop hand tools
- Must be able to perform basic math: add subtract multiply divide.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly for up to an hour to load unload and transport equipment and tools
- Must have basic computer skills to operate building management system and be proficient in Microsoft Outlook Calendar and Teams.
- This position does require you to be on call one weekend a month except when ill on vacation or excused by the Facilities Engineering Manager or Director of Real Estate and Facilities.
