The Lead Research Guide / Social Media Manager is responsible for leading field research activities ensuring the safety and education of volunteers and managing Researchs social media presence. The role requires field expertise leadership skills and the ability to communicate scientific findings effectively to volunteers and the public.
Field Leadership & Research Guiding:
Lead volunteer teams in field research activities including wildlife tracking data collection and observational studies.
Ensure safety and adherence to ethical research protocols during field operations.
Train volunteers in research methods equipment use and data recording techniques.
Monitor volunteer performance and provide coaching or support as needed.
Operational Oversight:
Plan and coordinate daily field schedules in collaboration with research staff.
Maintain equipment and ensure field supplies are adequate and ready for use.
Report findings and observations accurately to the research team for ongoing projects.
Social Media & Public Engagement:
Create compelling content showcasing research activities field discoveries and volunteer experiences.
Maintain a consistent posting schedule across social media platforms.
Respond to follower engagement and queries professionally and promptly.
Support website updates and contribute to educational content that promotes research initiatives.
Requirements
Proven experience as a field guide research assistant or wildlife educator.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
