Summary of role:
The Change Control Manager will lead the change management efforts for various projects ensuring the smooth adoption of new technology-enhanced classroom environments across identified venues. The successful candidate will identify and bridge expectation gaps among staff students and the technical team and support the training and communication strategies necessary for successful implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and document expectations concerns and resistance from academic staff students and technical staff.
- Liaise with project leadership to integrate stakeholder feedback into change plans.
- Develop and manage a detailed change control plan aligned with the waterfall delivery method.
- Establish formal processes for change requests evaluation approval and implementation.
- Maintain a change log and ensure traceability and transparency of all change activities.
- Conduct expectation and readiness assessments to identify misalignments.
- Recommend interventions to close gaps between stakeholder groups.
- Work with relevant faculties and technical leads to develop and roll out targeted training programs.
- Coordinate user readiness campaigns and documentation of new procedures and tools.
- Draft and disseminate change communications (newsletters FAQs updates).
- Provide regular reports to the Project Manager and Project Sponsor on change impacts and adoption progress.
- Proactively identify risks related to resistance or poor adoption and escalate appropriately.
- Implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruption and improve stakeholder buy-in.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Matric and a bachelors degree in project management Education Technology ICT Change Management or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managing change in large-scale technology-driven projects.
- Familiarity with higher education environments and academic culture is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of change management methodologies (e.g. ADKAR Kotter Prosci).
- Proven experience facilitating workshops focus groups and training sessions.
Desirable:
- Change Management certification (Prosci APMG etc.)
- Experience with smart classrooms digital learning platforms or 4IR technologies
- Familiarity with South African higher education regulatory environment
