Current Vacancy for Immediate Hire:
1 - Attendance Accounting Specialist II for 8 hours per day 245 workdays per year
Definition
To plan coordinate and process the districts student attendance and enrollment data; to ensure proper data entry of attendance information; compile and account for complex attendance reports for submission to the State of California; propose new and revised office and attendance procedures; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Examples of Duties
Essential responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Essential Functions:
1. Coordinate and process the districts student attendance and enrollment data; compile and account for complex attendance reports for submission to the County Office of Education and the State of California.
2. Operate a personal computer and peripheral equipment to create and modify existing programs and computer reports; format a variety of documents including schedules class information district and state
reports and other student or enrollment data.
3. Compile and analyze information and design and prepare various reports using software related to enrollment attendance operations and activities and demographic studies; review reports for accuracy
completeness and compliance with applicable laws rules and regulations.
4. Provide technical assistance concerning pupil enrollment and attendance data; maintain district and state reports and other student or enrollment data.
5. Receive and audit monthly attendance reports from district schools; correct inconsistencies; visit school sites as needed; coordinate and process attendance and enrollment data; prepare district attendance
accounting reports.
6. Work closely with attendance accounting technicians and other school personnel to provide accurate and timely attendance data and reports.
7. Train and provide assistance to school attendance personnel in attendance procedures policies and guidelines; train and provide assistance to district personnel in the use of attendance related software and equipment; train and support system users on system access software and peripheral equipment usage.
8. Review user needs recommend and implement procedures to meet the needs; respond to user requests formatting and generating standardized and specialized reports; compile and distribute reports; assist in conferring with individual users to determine potential utilization of the specific computer system and available software.
9. Design and implement new attendance forms and procedures as needed; advise school attendance personnel and administrators of requirements regulations and changes to procedures and forms; prepare and review various reports using software related to student information and attendance accounting.
10. Design program and process a variety of reports including enrollment attendance grading student directories statistical information and health.
11. Review computer printouts and other source data for accuracy; identify and correct erroneous information; assist in data accounting by reconciling source data and output reporting accuracy.
12. Interpret and explain a variety of district state and county codes policies and regulations pertaining to attendance.
13. Perform internal audits; assist auditors with district attendance records and reports as assigned.
14. Assure use of proper accounting methods in compliance with state and federal guidelines for funding purposes.
15. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Employment Standards
Experience and Training Guidelines
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible clerical accounting or attendance accounting experience including two years of increasingly responsible on-line report design and generation experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade with college coursework in accounting and computer operations.
Supplemental Information
This is an Open & Promotionalrecruitment: Internal candidates who attain a passing score on each examination part will be placed in rank order on a promotional eligibility list. Outside candidates will be similarly placed on an open eligibility list which will be used after the promotional list or if there are fewer than three ranks remaining on the promotional list.
