Design Safety Coordinator (SSC-P) Construction Projects
Overall Purpose
As the Design Safety Coordinator (SSC-P) you will ensure that health safety and constructability considerations are fully integrated into the project design. Working on behalf of the Owner/Client you will coordinate early involvement from designers engineers and contractors to identify proactively and mitigate risks. Your role ensures compliance with EU and local regulations while laying the foundation for safe construction maintenance and operation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the Design Safety Review / CDM process across all design phases.
Ensure risk mitigation and constructability considerations are embedded into project design.
Prepare data handover to the SSC-B (Construction Coordinator) at least one month before mobilization.
Participate in contractor negotiations to embed safety culture and EHS requirements.
Develop and oversee EHS compliance programs ensuring alignment with EU directives and client policies.
Draft and maintain EHS policies training matrices and compliance documentation.
Conduct design risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies (Category A B C).
Support internal and external audits for compliance and constructability.
Act as liaison with regulatory bodies and auditors ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Promote continuous improvement and a strong safety culture across design teams and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelors degree in engineering process or construction (Masters degree preferred).
Relevant certifications (NEBOSH IOSH Coordinator AMK Course or similar).
In-depth knowledge of Directives and construction HSE regulations.
Several years of experience in SSC-P or SSC-B roles on medium/large projects.
Proven track record with Design Safety Reviews HAZID HAZOP and EHS programs.
Strong risk management and auditing experience.
Excellent written verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and foster safety culture across all project levels.
High integrity analytical mindset and problem-solving ability.
Required Skills:
Experience: Previous experience in administration customer service or access control is an advantage but not required. Experience from construction is beneficial. Skills: Strong administrative and organizational abilities. Attention to detail and reliability. Clear and professional communication skills across different stakeholder groups. Ability to remain structured and approachable in a fast-paced environment. Education: Secondary education (e.g. high school) or equivalent. Other Requirements:
