About the Role

Join Our Team as a Head of Direct Procurement

We are seeking a pragmatic professional to lead the development planning and implementation of procurement category strategies. This role is pivotal in driving cost optimisation ensuring quality and enhancing delivery and supplier reliability across a defined category or group of categories.

You will play a key part in aligning procurement activities with company policies supply base management procedures and the strategic objectives of our broader procurement services team. Your work will support the Groups One Toll strategy contributing to operational excellence and long-term success.

To be successful as a Head of Direct Procurement you will need to:

  • Deliver Procurement KPIs by achieving cost reduction/avoidance optimising payment terms and developing a strong rationalised vendor base.
  • Develop and execute category strategies through strategic sourcing tender management (RFI/RFQ) contract negotiation and leveraging tools like eSourcing to maximise financial outcomes and compliance.
  • Drive supplier management and quality by consolidating supplier base managing performance reviews resolving cost/quality issues and ensuring robust contingency plans for critical items.
  • Identify and implement innovative procurement solutions through market research benchmarking and continuous improvement of sourcing strategies and processes.
  • Provide leadership and team development by recruiting coaching and mentoring category specialists addressing performance issues and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and governance by generating monthly reports tracking benefits and monitoring procurement spend to support strategic objectives.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in business or contract management or a related field
  • Professional membership in relevant associations


Skills and Experience

  • Proven leadership and influencing ability to guide teams and secure cooperation across all levels inside and outside the organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external partners.
  • Change management expertise to overcome barriers and drive adoption of new procurement approaches such as outsourcing.
  • Highly adaptable and organised able to manage multiple priorities think quickly and respond effectively to changing situations.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal combined with a results-driven mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Resilience and tenacity to deliver outcomes and achieve objectives under challenging circumstances.
