As the Supervisor Canadian Payroll youre responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll operations for Canadian employees ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing compliance with federal and provincial regulations and continuous improvement of payroll processes.
A day in the life of the Supervisor Canadian Payroll includes:
Payroll Operations Leadership:
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of Canadian payroll processing including salary hourly unionized and non-unionized groups.
- Review and approve payroll runs ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the main point of contact for complex payroll inquiries and escalations.
- Lead post-payroll activities including reconciliations adjustments and error corrections.
Compliance & Controls:
- Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll legislation collective agreements and internal controls.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws regulations and best practices.
- Design and monitor internal controls to mitigate risks and conduct periodic audits to assess effectiveness.
Process Improvement & Technology:
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation in payroll operations.
- Participate in the implementation and enhancement of payroll systems (e.g. SAP UKG).
- Develop and maintain payroll process documentation SOPs and training materials.
Reporting & Year-End Activities:
- Prepare and review payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee year-end activities including T4 and benefits reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll information and documentation.
For this role youll come equipped with:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
- PCP or CPM certification (NPI) or working towards these certifications
- Proven track records of exceptional delivery in high volume complex payroll environment
- Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience including leadership SME or supervisory roles.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation collective agreements and best practices.
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g. SAP UKG) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail confidentiality and organizational skills.
- Experience with process mapping and business process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
The salary range for this position is: $79450.00-$113500.00
