The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a key role responsible for advancing HousingFirsts vision of vibrant inclusive and empowered communities across a diverse housing portfolio that includes properties for over 55s and single mothers. With a strong focus on tenant satisfaction and meaningful engagement this position champions the design and delivery of initiatives that foster connection participation and a sense of belonging while recognising the unique needs of our resident.

The role plays a central part in embedding tenant feedback into organisational culture systems and service deliveryensuring that engagement activities are not only innovative and inclusive but also directly support HousingFirsts key performance measures and regulatory requirements. We are a housing only organisation with no support services provided by HousingFirst making this role pivotal in supporting continuous improvement in tenant experience from running engagement sessions and satisfaction surveys to facilitating placemaking and creative projects.

Initially working independently the Community Engagement Coordinator will establish and lead the engagement function with the opportunity to supervise and mentor a small team as the program grows. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on our communities organisational culture and the lives of our residents.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver strategic community engagement and placemaking initiatives that foster inclusion and empowerment

Champion tenant-centered approaches and embed feedback into organisational culture and service delivery

Manage community grants and maintain reference materials to improve consistency and efficiency.

Advise on participation accessibility and inclusion for stakeholders; develop engagement protocols and tools

Support digital media adoption and innovative solutions for customer engagement

Ensure compliance with organisational policies regulatory requirements and sector standard

Establish and lead the engagement function mentoring a small team as the program grows

Support placemaking projects led by Housing Officers and assist with tenant satisfaction surveys

Contribute content for resident newsletters and social media

As our ideal candidate you will have:

A desire to be part of a values driven and community focused organisation

Strong background in placemaking ideally in a social housing context with experience in community engagement program and event delivery.

Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency Status and hold a current Victorian drivers license.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in community development events management property or a related field are highly regarded.

Proven leadership in driving change engaging staff and working with diverse or vulnerable groups; skilled in project management budgeting and compliance.

Excellent communication facilitation and relationship-building skills with a proactive organised and solutions-focused approach.

Demonstrates professionalism resilience and commitment to continuous improvement and HousingFirsts values.

Experience working with people from diverse or vulnerable backgrounds.

A National Police Check and Victorian Working with Childrens Check will also be required for the preferred candidate.
