Position:Supervisor of Facilities and Construction
Location: Auxiliary Services Center
Reports To: Director of Facilities and Operations
Description:
The Supervisor of Facilities and Construction ensures a safe functional and well-maintained environment conducive to learning and institutional goals managing both the daily facility needs and construction/improvement projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management maintenance supervision or construction project management. Experience in an educational or institutional setting is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of successful administrative supervisory or managerial experience leading diverse teams (construction grounds etc).
- Associates degree preferred.
- Obtain playground inspection certification within 6 months of employment
- Strong knowledge of commercial/institutional grounds maintenance including turf management irrigation systems landscaping principles pest/disease control and safe operation of equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints interpret technical manuals and manage a departmental budget.
- Demonstrated successful ability to lead motivate and mentor diverse maintenance construction and grounds teams.
- Excellent organizational written verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students staff administration parents community and the Board of Education.
- Valid state drivers license required.
- Professional certifications (e.g. CFM PMP relevant trade license or grounds management certification like a commercial pesticide applicator license) are desirable.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 pounds bending standing and walking for extended periods both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the effective operation of all grounds functions including but not limited to turf management irrigation systems playgrounds snow removal maintenance landscaping and equipment upkeep.
- Directly supervise schedule and lead contracted and/or internal grounds and lawn crews ensuring efficient daily workflow and task completion.
- Coordinate and manage facility improvements.
- Inspect and coordinate the maintenance of playgrounds and playground equipment.
- Function as district liaison with construction management architectural design civil engineering and other third-party partners and consultants.
- Coordinate delegate and inspect work performed by internal staff and external contractors to ensure quality safety and adherence to schedules.
- Read blueprints interpret technical manuals and assist in tracking spending against budgets.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations including those for commercial pesticide application and equipment operation.
- Maintain excellent communication with staff site administration and the Director providing regular updates on operational status and resource needs.
- Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and positively with students staff and the community during the execution of daily duties.
- Respond to and address building emergency issues during and after business hours as needed.
- Conduct on-call duties in rotation with other staff members.
- Assist the Supervisor of Operations with custodial operations and management as requested.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
