POSITION SUMMARY
In 2011 NWS inaugurated its Frank Gehry-designed campusa laboratory for the way classical music is taught presented and experiencedin the heart of Miami Beachs Art Deco district. A highlight of the New World Center is its unprecedented integration of technology into educational rehearsal and performance spaces. An iconic concert auditorium features a nearly 360-degree projected video and lighting capability; a large additional complement of theatrical lighting; 12-20 robotic cameras along with a 4KUHD broadcast control room; and top-of-the-line audio recording and sound reinforcement equipment. The campus also includes seven video lighting and audio design and post-production studios. The successful applicant for this position will join a team in producing media-rich performances for live audiences for webcast and for live simulcast (WALLCAST) onto the buildings exterior projection façade (the largest permanent projection surface in North America). In addition the successful applicant will participate in the production and post production of NWS Medias numerous digital initiatives including creating educational performance and storytelling videos for distribution on its own burgeoning YouTube channel as well as other platforms for New Media distribution.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage video shoots and post-production of selected educational and artistic events; coordinate recordings with production staff as necessary
- Create and edit video pieces for YouTube
- Create institutional fundraising and marketing videos under the general direction of the Senior Video Production Specialist and/or directly with pertinent departments
- Manage work at any position (e.g. robotic camera operation titling switching etc.) in the production control room during webcasts WALLCASTS archival concert recordings and activities transmitted externally and internally via broadband (Internet2)
- Create video art pieces (synchronous to music) as assigned
- Edit and archive existing and newly produced artistic educational institutional and other videos
- Conceive develop and produce content for digital signage system at NWC
- Manage/produce various types of video shoots (e.g. single and multi-camera interviews studio shoots etc.)
- Coordinate management of institutional and archival videos and prepare videos for uploading to streaming site
- Serve as Watchout Operator for NWS concerts in Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall
- Perform other video-related and motion graphics-related duties as assigned
*Video Production Specialists typically spend more than 50% of their time on creative projects/endeavors.
Qualifications :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BA or BFA in Television Production (or similar) Broadcast Television Engineer certification (CBTE) or Video Engineer certification (CEV)
- Proven experience with setup and lighting of single-camera and multi-camera shoots both in-studio and on location with digital video cameras and DSLRs and with lighting and audio-recording for video required
- Experience with latest-technology broadcast video equipment including large-format switching consoles robotic cameras character generators and audio mixing consoles as well as experience with projectors and media servers preferred
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Premiere After Effects and Photoshop)
- Proficiency in both Mac and Windows operating systems word processing spreadsheet and database usage
- Understanding of the fundamentals of video streaming and compression methods and formats
- Ability to interact effectively as a team player with a variety of personalities
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a demanding multi-activity work environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality
- Ability to read music and follow musical scores preferred
- Working familiarity with classical orchestral and chamber music preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
