Candidate Experience & Communications Strategist
The Candidate Experience & Communications Strategist plays a key role in shaping how Sutherlands employer brand is perceived throughout the candidate journey. This is a highly strategic role focused on identifying communication gaps aligning external messaging with our brand narrative and ensuring a cohesive engaging and impactful experience for candidates across all touchpoints from the career site to job descriptions emails and social platforms.
This person will bring a strong background in candidate experience marketing communications and data-driven thinking to uncover insights optimize messaging and craft experiences that truly reflect who we are as an employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize the candidate journey strategy ensuring all touchpoints (career site job descriptions emails social media etc.) reflect a consistent and compelling brand experience.
- Own the content strategy for the career site working closely with the brand and design teams to keep it current relevant and aligned with candidate needs.
- Analyze candidate feedback and behavior data (from platforms like Qualtrics and Google Analytics) to uncover pain points gaps and opportunities in communication.
- Partner with Digital Marketing Brand and TA teams to align messaging across all candidate-facing channels including LinkedIn Life Glassdoor and job platforms.
- Collaborate with designers and content leads to craft clear engaging storytelling and campaign messaging tailored to candidate interests.
- Ensure job descriptions recruitment campaigns and email communications follow brand tone and reflect our EVP.
- Liaise with the career site vendor to ensure optimal performance troubleshoot issues and manage content updates.
- Monitor trends and platform updates to continuously improve our candidate communication strategy.

Must-Have Skills
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze the full candidate journey and design impactful messaging strategies that align with brand goals.
- Brand & Communications Expertise: Strong grasp of employer brand principles tone of voice and storytelling across digital channels.
- Data Interpretation: Experience using data to inform decision-making identify gaps in communications and optimize candidate touchpoints.
- Project & Stakeholder Management: Comfortable working across functions (TA Design Marketing Vendors) and managing multiple priorities.
- Digital Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of digital marketing channels and how candidates engage with platforms like LinkedIn Glassdoor and career sites.
Tools & Platforms
- Qualtrics (or other survey platforms): for analyzing candidate experience feedback.
- Google Analytics: to track behavior and performance across the career site.
- ATS/CRM Tools (SmartRecruiters SuccessFactors etc.): basic understanding of how candidates flow through the funnel.
- Collaboration Tools: Slack Google Workspace Workzone or similar platforms.
Nice to Have
- Basic SEO knowledge: Understanding of how search engines affect visibility of job descriptions and career site content.
- Experience in content audits or copywriting: Especially helpful when standardizing messaging across multiple candidate-facing materials.
- BPO experience.
Language
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential given global collaboration and brand alignment responsibilities.
