The Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and operationally-focused Director of Accounting to lead our accounting function at the Copenhagen site. Reporting to VP site Finance in Copenhagen this is a critical hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting maintaining a robust control environment and driving technical accounting excellence.

This role is the go-to expert for all local accounting matters ensuring full compliance with IFRS and Danish statutory requirements and tax authorities. While this is a Director-level position we are seeking a leader who is passionate about not just leading a team but also rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. The Incumbent will have the opportunity to shape and build the accounting team (currently 2 people) to deliver on the department objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Danish statutory requirements. The role will be responsible for meeting all financial and tax compliance standards meeting with third party audit and tax authorities and focusing on complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition under IFRS 15.

  • Audit & Controls: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits including statutory and tax as well as ensuring all requirements are met timely and efficiently. The role will be responsible for designing implementing and maintaining a strong internal control framework (J-SOX Japan SOX).

  • Technical Accounting Leadership: Provide expert technical guidance on all local accounting matters including new standards and complex transactions general ledger balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring alignment with local reporting requirements.

  • Operational Excellence: Actively oversee and participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations and systems.

  • Team Leadership: Lead mentor shape and develop the local accounting team fostering a culture of high performance accuracy and professional growth.

  • Global Business Partnership: Collaborate closely with local teams and the global finance organization on a variety of topics as financial closing and consolidation intercompany transactions JSOX and compliance initiatives as well as partnering with the global corporate controller on accounting related initiatives. Experience in international global company environment is desirable.

Who You Are:

  • You possess extensive experience of between 10 and 15 years in a senior accounting role ideally gained within a large publicly listed company and understand the rigor of this environment.

  • Your technical accounting knowledge is exceptional. You have deep demonstrable expertise in IFRS (especially IFRS 15 and ideally in Biomanufacturing environment) and Danish tax and accounting regulations.

  • You are a hands-on leader as comfortable directing strategy as you are diving into the details of a complex accounting entry.

  • You have a proven track record of successfully managing statutory audits and have a strong understanding of intercompany transaction regulations.

  • You hold a relevant Accounting Bachelor and/or master degree and Professional certification (e.g. CPA CMA MAcc).

  • Knowledge of ERP systems is essential and experience with a new ERP implementation is preferred.

  • You have excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to both local and global stakeholders.

  • You have experience working in an international/global company and matrix environment
