GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 180 staff GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health Social Services Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for the self-determination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social emotional and spiritual wellbeing with culture at the heart of everything we do.
Position Purpose
The Project Officer Strategic Reform & Community Consultation is responsible for supporting GEGAC to deliver three major organisation-wide reform projects over the period. This fixed-term role has a clear start and finish and will coordinate project planning community-informed consultation reporting and implementation support across the organisation.
The role works closely with the CEO Executive Directors Board advisory groups Elders staff and community members to ensure each reform project is delivered on time to scope and in a culturally safe inclusive and well-documented manner.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects: Experience delivering multi-stakeholder projects in community services health social services organisational development governance or related fields.
Strong community engagement skills: Proven ability to design coordinate and document culturally safe community consultations staff forums workshops and stakeholder engagements.
Ability to work with Aboriginal communities in a culturally safe manner: Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal communities Elders families and community groups demonstrating cultural humility and responsiveness.
Strong organisational & planning capability: Ability to manage timelines competing priorities and scheduled deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
Analytical and synthesis skills: Capacity to collect analyse and interpret consultation feedback organisational data and policy information into meaningful insights.
Ability to work collaboratively across all divisions: Demonstrated experience partnering with executives managers frontline staff and external stakeholders to progress organisation-wide initiatives.
High level of professionalism discretion and integrity: Ability to manage sensitive information and support organisation-wide reform processes with confidentiality and sound judgement
Proficiency with systems & tools: Competence using Microsoft Office Suite and other project coordination tools to support documentation planning tracking and reporting.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
Valid drivers licence: A current and unrestricted Victorian Drivers Licence is essential as the role involves regular travel across the Gippsland and East Gippsland region to engage with community staff service sites and external stakeholders ESSENTIAL
Relevant qualification OR demonstrated equivalent experience in community engagement project coordination policy social services Aboriginal community services governance or organisational development ESSENTIAL
Experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) ESSENTIAL
Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects with clear timelines and deliverables ESSENTIAL
Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal communities Elders families and community organisations ESSENTIAL
A satisfactory Victorian Working with Childrens Check and a satisfactory National Police Check Clearance ESSENTIAL
Ability to meet occupational vaccination requirements for workers supporting vulnerable people including providing evidence of immunisation history and recommended vaccinations and proof of COVID-19 vaccination to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
