I. Purpose
This position provides administerial and technical support to maintain and enhance the work of the ethics program and the ASHA Board of Ethics including their adjudication education outreach and senior administrative needs.
II. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary liaison between ASHA Ethics Office and ASHA Business Analysts on technical projects and oversee best practices of legal document management.
- Work independently to analyze complaint data create customized spreadsheets charts and reports and research historical complaint data.
- Organize and provide all administrative and technical support for Board of Ethics meetings including the creation of agendas templates scheduling and recordings.
- Prepare annual nomination materials and research for review with the senior director of ethics and the BOE Chairs.
- Assist in the creation of ethics presentations including research and creating PowerPoint slides.
- Prepare form minutes that serve as the basis for all Board decisions. Proofread ethics materials and motions as requested.
- Manage Boards collaborative site and Community site to ensure posted materials are current and organized for easy Board and staff access.
- Manage Ethics database on NetForum.
- Act as liaison for special projects as requested by the senior director of ethics.
III. Position within ASHA
The associate director reports to the senior director of ethics on the Ethics Team (Standards & Ethics cluster).
IV. Autonomy & Decision Making:
The incumbent reports directly to the senior director of ethics. The incumbent will make decisions and act independently in some areas but will balance that autonomy with interdependence by seeking guidance and collaboration when needed or expected.
V. Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications:
Knowledge typically acquired through:
- A bachelors degree preferably in communications English ethics justice philosophy political science history legal studies pre-law health studies sociology/psychology communications disorders or a related area such as a paralegal certificate
- At least 5 years of responsible administrative experience managing a unit or project within a complex organization preferably involving legal work
- Collaboration software and database management experience
- Experience working with and fostering cooperation among diverse constituencies
Skills
- Demonstrated writing and editing abilities
- Demonstrated ability in Word NetForum Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also working collaboratively with a team to develop and carry out projects and duties
- Demonstrated ability to use software consistent with duties and responsibilities
- Demonstrated interest in learning a broad range of issues as applied to ethics credentialing and professional discipline
- Demonstrated ability to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information/data
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement logistics for meetings
- Demonstrated strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage and track several projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to recall analyze organize information and make complex decisions
- Demonstrated ability to verbally communicate and to effectively interact with people in a positive manner
