About the Role

The Public Safety Officer I plays a key role in ensuring the safety and security of patients visitors and staff within our healthcare facilities. This position supports a secure welcoming environment by monitoring hospital grounds responding to emergencies and enforcing safety protocols. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin or advance a career in healthcare security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol hospital entrances units parking areas and grounds to deter hazards and ensure safety.

  • Monitor surveillance cameras access control points and alarm systems.

  • Respond to calls for assistance providing escorts directions and support to staff patients and visitors.

  • Enforce safety and security policies including weapons screening and access control.

  • Assist with emergency response crowd control and incident coordination with clinical teams.

  • Conduct inspections of emergency exits equipment and life safety systems.

  • Document incidents and maintain accurate activity logs.

  • Participate in required trainingincluding CPR Narcan Stop the Bleed and de-escalation.

  • Maintain professionalism confidentiality and respect for all individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid drivers license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and SambaSafety risk scores.

  • At least 1 year of security or customer service experience preferred.

  • Must be 21 years old (exceptions for those under 21 with prior military law enforcement or comparable healthcare security experience).

  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods occasionally run or climb stairs restrain individuals as part of a team and lift 50 lbs.

  • Strong communication decision-making and interpersonal skills.

  • Exposure to varying temperatures noise and frequent walking/standing.

Salary Range: Minimum 17.11/hour - Maximum 28.26/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
