Positions Supervised: Coordinator Campus Recreation

Job Summary

The manager for campus recreation is responsible for managing and maintaining campus fitness facilities intramural sports programs and associated events.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Creates and implements all policies and procedures required to manage fitness facility
  • Purchases and maintains required supplies and equipment; collects equipment proposals and quotes from fitness vendors
  • Ensures adherence to University policies and procedures and local state and federal regulations
  • Creates and enforces rules/regulations regarding disciplinary issues in Evans Commons Recreational Center and within Lindenwoods intramural sports programs
  • Provides ongoing assessment and data management for all programs activities and individuals associated with campus recreation programs
  • Promotes and enforces conflict resolution in Evans Commons and intramural sports programs
  • Selects trains and supervises student employees; hires and supervises sports officials and fitness instructors
  • Executes on disciplinary and termination processes as outlined by University policies and procedures

Service Excellence

Communication Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Promotes Evans Commons Recreational Center and its fitness and intramural sports programs
  • Manages the intramural events and recreational center calendar
  • Assists with the development and execution of departmental plans goals and assessments

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 3 years related professional experience
  • Masters degree in a related field (human performance exercise science higher education student affairs human resource management business etc.) preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities May be representative but not all inclusive of the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Knowledge of fitness programs equipment and intramural sports programs
  • Demonstrated staff supervision skills with a commitment to professional staff development
  • Ability to articulate expectations for the Campus Recreation department
  • Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty students and staff
  • Ability to demonstrate confidence leadership creativity and initiative
  • Highly developed analytical organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of online intramural sports management and facility management software
  • General contract and risk management knowledge
