The International Markets Centralized Investigations (IMCI) team seats within the Employee Workplace Relationships Services (EWRS) organization and is the function responsible for executing centralized investigations for cases concerning Global Operations and selected business lines employees outside North America. With Australias growing operations footprint including fulfillment centers sortation centers delivery stations and corporate offices this role will be crucial in supporting our Australian workforce. The central objective of our team is to ensure fair and respectful treatment of employees consistent with our core business values and objectives.

We are looking for a Sr HR Investigator to lead complex ER and HR workplace investigations and address escalations concerning processes and policies across Amazons Australia Operations network. This Sydney-based role will be the primary investigator for Australian operations focusing on solving highly sensitive and ambiguous employee relations issues that might have significant business legal and reputational implications.
The Sr HR Investigator will own cases independently and will work extensively with other IMCI Investigators field PXT partners and other relevant support teams to ensure the execution of intentional and thorough investigations primarily in Australia with occasional support to other countries supported by IMCI.
Key job responsibilities
Investigation Leadership
Lead complex and highly sensitive HR/ER investigations including:
Conducting thorough interviews with complainants witnesses and subjects
Analyzing data from multiple internal systems
Performing case adjudication
Recommending appropriate remedial actions
Producing comprehensive investigation reports
Independently manage cases from intake to closure with speed and precision
Handle time-sensitive and critical ER issues requiring immediate attention
Strategic Analysis & Recommendations
Analyze aggregate casework data to identify trends and patterns
Develop strategic recommendations to address systemic issues
Drive proactive solutions to prevent future incidents
Partner in continuous improvement initiatives
Stakeholder Management
Consult and collaborate with:
PXT business partners
Employee Relations teams
Legal teams
All levels of leadership
Successfully influence and earn trust across all organizational levels from entry-level associates to senior leadership
Navigate and manage challenging conversations effectively at all organizational levels
Operational Excellence
Maintain effective balance between investigations and strategic projects
Demonstrate agility in managing competing priorities
Deliver results under tight deadlines while maintaining investigation quality
Drive continuous improvement in communication and investigation practices
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Business Program Management Human Resources Employment Law Computer Science Finance Computer Information Systems Engineering Operations Research or a related field
- 5 years human resource generalist experience or HR investigations specialist experience
- Experience in conducting investigative fieldwork including complainant witness and subject employee interviews investigative data analysis and production of investigative documentation
- Experience supporting hourly employee client groups
- Experience in call center distribution center or manufacturing environments
- Understanding of Australian employment law framework
- Advanced degree JD or other specialized training in labor/employee relations
- Evidence of career development and/or evidence of superior performance in previous roles
- Ability to provide leadership work collaboratively on teams and consult effectively and independently with all levels and functional areas of an organization.
- Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results
- Ability to apply high judgment and consider the context and totality of the employee experience
- Ability to identify root cause and pursue resolution of both acute and systemic defects
