Name and description of hiring department:

The 9-1-1 Control Center is responsible to support 9-1-1 Service requests for PSAPs and ONPs

Main Job Duties / Accountabilities include:

  • React quickly and find solutions to outages or major impacts on the 9-1-1 network respecting criteria established by the 9-1-1 team such as application of reroutes in case 9-1-1 centers have to go to their backup sites
  • Perform surveillance and analysis of 9-1-1 systems (voice data and IP network: DMS IPVPN LAN/WAN ISN network and MPLS)
  • Answer support requests from different key players and do the appropriate follow-up
  • Analysis of 9-1-1 logs wireless/wireline phone trace address requests AULs and line testing on phantom calls received at 9-1-1 call centers using Info-DMS/ ACUT/TIM/BCRIS/PAIRE/CNA/NCMS/NM1
  • Document in a ticketing system all troubles problems and actions taken on the 9-1-1 network
  • Perform other tasks related to 9-1-1 operations such as running scripts 9-1-1 system cleanup statistics etc.
  • Act as a team player with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Organize and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
  • As necessary agree to undergo a background security check to meet a customers clearance requirement.

Prerequisite:

Candidates who are part of the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:

    • A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications or equivalent work experience

Candidates from outside the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:

    • A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications or equivalent work experience
    • A minimum of a high school diploma
  • English language skills required: Interactions with English-speaking clients or individuals residing outside Quebec

Essential Qualifications / Skills:

  • Basic knowledge on Voice and Data networks
  • Basic knowledge in computers/workstations
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple issues at the same time
  • Ability to make decisions promptly and manage risks while under pressure
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving abilities

Working Conditions:

This is a 24/7 operation and the requirement for this position is to be available to work on evening/night and weekend shifts. The candidate may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs (schedules within a given day are prepared by the Company with due consideration to seniority) to participate in a standby program and work overtime as needed. Available and flexible to work days evenings nights weekends and statutory holidays as needed.

Note that many working conditions are subject to terms outlined in the collective agreement.

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
