Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated Buyer to join our team!

The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Full-Time Buyer II who receives and analyzes purchase requests for materials services and supplies. As a Buyer you will review State and Department contract agreements vendor lists and catalogs for requested purchases at the Arizona State Prison Complex Douglas.

Job Duties:

- Purchases goods and services (under contract)
- Sources for the best products and supplies
- Solicits verbal and written quotes as required
- Maintains state-awarded contract files
- May trains and/or supervises other buying staff
- Generates purchases orders
- Coordinates with complex managers in the ordering of required commodities and services
- Composes bids proposals or quotes by researching the commodity area specifications and contractual terms
- Develops bids to fulfill departmental requirements and best interests
- Analyzes submitted proposals seeks end-user input and prepares award recommendations for approval
- Researches interviews and corresponds with vendors for current and new sourcing regarding pricing availability discrepancies delivery and market trends
- Contacts vendors regarding any discrepancies regarding price shipping or delivery time frames
- Plans and participates in commodity surveys analyze results and takes necessary action
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Selective Preference(s):

- Two (2) years of experience equivalent to a Buyer I
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in purchasing and one (1) year of experience

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
