The Role
BGC is seeking an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer to support regional and international water resources projects. The successful candidate will contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams delivering high-quality technical services to address our clients applied earth science challenges. This role requires experience in surface water management with a solid foundation in water balance modelling and hydraulic structure analysis and design. You will collaborate with hydrotechnical engineers and geoscientists contribute to technical work and continue developing your expertise.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to hydrotechnical modelling design and construction projects under the guidance of senior staff.
- Assist with project coordination including tracking budgets schedules and deliverables.
- Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams occasionally in remote or challenging environments.
- Participate in site visits and fieldwork.
- Support and learn from senior engineers and geoscientists while mentoring junior staff as appropriate.
- Assist with proposal development and identifying opportunities for technical growth.
- Stay engaged with research and development initiatives to support innovative practices.
- Help promote BGCs vision values and culture.
Required Education Experience & Competencies
- Professional Engineering License (or eligibility for licensure).
- 5 to 10 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
- Experience in a consulting environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics hydrology hydrotechnical design and river engineering with an interest in integrating geotechnical and hydrogeological perspectives.
- Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Position Requirements
Drug & Alcohol Testing
To ensure we meet our clients compliance requirements and our workplace health and safety commitments BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that applies to this position. The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work. This testing could be requested within an employees first week or in the future as required. It is important to note that some clients also require random drug and alcohol testing and/or testing in the event of a health and safety accident or incident.
Drivers License
BGC requires that employees have a valid drivers license and that employees can drive a field pickup truck. Upon hiring BGC will require a drivers abstract to allow for a safety review of your driving history.
Travel and Vaccination
BGC is committed to maintaining a safe work environment to ensure the health and safety of employees while on business travel and during field assignments.
