The Suffolk Association of Local Councils (SALC) is looking for an Engagement Coordinator (NSIPs)


The role

To lead and coordinate SALCs support to the sector for Suffolks Nationally Strategic Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) ensuring that local councils and parish meetings are equipped to engage effectively at each stage of the process.

To assist local councils and parish meetings with engaging and developing approaches during key stages of these strategic planning applications and bringing to life published guidance developed in partnership with Suffolk County Council developing practical tools approaches and sharing good practice.

Support to local councils includes raising awareness of critical deadlines and hosting workshops to help community representatives contribute meaningfully and with confidence throughout the process. The postholder will also be required to travel across parts of Suffolk.

Main responsibilities

  • Establishing key stakeholders across the sector in Suffolk and developing a model communication and engagement plans for each project
  • Researching best practice both nationally and locally
  • Analysing issues and trends and adapting into guidance and support accordingly. Establishing mechanisms for reporting to key stakeholders including sponsors.

You dont need to be a planning expert in particular we are looking for someone who:

  • has a good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • is self-driven and analytically minded
  • has proven skills in managing projects and
  • is an excellent communicator and a team player with a talent for building awareness and engagement.

You will join a small dedicated professional team working together to meet the needs of over 400 town and parish councils across Suffolk.

This is a new post but you will be supported by our well-established operational framework and team of experienced colleagues and partners.
