Additional Working Conditions:

  • Flexibility in working hours including participation in occasional scheduled on-call after hours support and time shifting.
  • Participation in after-hours emergency response.

Salary Range: $78733 - $107305 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Acting Chief Information Officer & Associate Vice-President ITS the Senior Cybersecurity Analyst enhances UNBs cybersecurity posture through advanced anomaly detection prevention and mitigation strategies. This role collaborates with IT staff to establish robust security protocols continuously improves monitoring tools and processes and maintains a keen awareness of the evolving threat landscape. The Senior Cybersecurity Analyst also plays a critical role in incident response and recovery activities ensuring the organization remains resilient against cyber threats.

  • Establish baselines to detect anomalies and events across networks users and systems.
  • Set incident alert thresholds and correlate event data from multiple sources to enhance detection capabilities.
  • Refine and update baseline settings to adapt to evolving threats and organizational needs.
  • Implement and improve monitoring tools to ensure proper configuration maintenance and consistent use.
  • Verify the effectiveness of preventative measures and integrate events into broader monitoring and incident management.
  • Enhance monitoring tools to keep pace with emerging cyber threats.
  • Maximize the value of cybersecurity tools.
  • Define prevention and detection roles and responsibilities with IT staff.
  • Ensure prevention and detection processes are in place maintained tested and communicated to the appropriate parties.
  • Establish IT security protocols aligned with information security policies.
  • Monitor and improve compliance with IT security standards.
  • Improve related prevention and detection processes on an ongoing basis.
  • Track report and investigate notifications from detection systems to support effective response and recovery.
  • Prioritize notifications conduct forensics and analyse events to understand targets methods and impacts.
  • Apply insights from analyses to strengthen cybersecurity posture and response strategies.
  • Develop and implement standardized responses to vulnerabilities and non-critical incidents.
  • Participate in Critical Incident Response Teams to ensure swift and effective containment and mitigation.
  • Maintain awareness of the changing threat landscape to address emerging risks.
  • Maintain the cybersecurity risk register for reporting to the Board.
  • Stay current with UNBs information security needs and risk tolerance.
  • Develop a strong understanding of UNBs IT infrastructure including strengths weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
  • Keep abreast of information security trends preventative measures and industry standards through professional consortiums.
  • Participate effectively in project teams and complete independent projects successfully and on time.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate degree in Technology or Engineering.
  • 5 years experience progressive experience in security systems end point and/or network analysis.
  • 3 years experience in a senior or lead role.

Additional Strengths

  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP CRISC or CISM are an asset; willingness to work toward certification is considered.
  • Solid working knowledge across multiple technology domains including access management vulnerability monitoring network security mobile and desktop platforms server operating systems encryption change control secure SDLC incident response cloud security disaster recovery privacy security policies etc.
  • Excellent client engagement and relationship-management skills.
  • Proven capability to influence leadership and build credibility across the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Works effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Skilled at prioritising tasks applying departmental standards and meeting deadlines.
  • Adapts effectively to changes in the work environment.
  • Welcomes technology changes and shows initiative in learning new tools and approaches.
