Job Summary

  • Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) and either: a Master of Library & Information Studies degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution or a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies Teacher Librarianship or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of directly related experience which includes a minimum of 2 years in library services and a minimum of 2 years of recent classroom teaching with lesson plan development responsibilities.
  • Teaching Certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in youth engagement community outreach and program evaluation is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in Canada is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of Albertas elementary school curriculum.
  • Ability to design and lead inquiry-based learning activities.
  • Ability to assess community interests and needs and to plan services accordingly in keeping with the Librarys business plan and strategic directions.
  • Ability to work effectively with customers of all ages and backgrounds; experience working with users from a wide variety of cultural economic social and educational backgrounds is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively outside of traditional library activities and settings.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and new service directions.
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team environment.

Pay Band:
$43.41 - $55.41 per hour*
*Approximately $79326 - $101241 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.
Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.

Note:
Satisfactory background screenings is required for this position which includes a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
This position consists of varied schedules which include day evening and weekend shifts.
