INTERMEDIATE DATA SCIENTIST (HYBRID LISBON)
Portuguese company hires for hybrid position
Location: Lisbon Portugal (Hybrid 2/3 days per week on-site)

We are seeking an Intermediate Data Scientist with solid experience in Machine Learning Generative AI and cloud-based solutions to join a forward-thinking team working on high-impact analytical and AI initiatives. This role requires strong technical foundations autonomy and the ability to contribute meaningfully to enterprise-scale AI solutions.
What You Will Do
Develop analytical models of medium complexity (regression classification clustering ML on structured data at rest).
Implement code in Python or R.
Independently develop GenAI-based applications using OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
(Desirable) Build Microsoft Copilot solutions.
Participate in AI/ML lifecycle activities from design to deployment.
Collaborate with global teams in a hybrid work environment (Lisbon).
Must-Have Requirements

Degree in Software Engineering Computer Engineering Data Science or related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with global teams.
Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
Commitment to high-quality deliveries.
Fluent English (mandatory).
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
Experience developing Machine Learning projects in Python R or SAS.
Experience deploying ML models to production and managing model lifecycles.
Proven experience in Machine Learning and Generative AI.
Hands-on experience implementing GenAI solutions in enterprise environments.
Ability to optimize and manage GenAI models within cloud infrastructures.
Ability to lead AI initiatives and support team leadership when needed.
Required Technical Skillset

Programming
Strong proficiency in Python and relevant ML/AI libraries.
Generative AI & LLMs
Hands-on experience building LLM applications in the Azure ecosystem using GPT-4o o3 etc.
Experience with Azure AI Services:
* TTS (e.g. ElevenLabs)
* STT (Whisper-large-v3)
* STS (gpt-4o-mini-realtime-preview)
* Azure Document Intelligence for OCR
* Embeddings (text-embedding-3-small/large)
Deep understanding of RAG architecture.
Hands-on experience with LangChain and LangGraph.
Backend API development using FastAPI.
Knowledge of Guardrails for safety and LangFuse for evaluation/observability.
Azure Cloud
Proven experience deploying applications on Microsoft Azure.
Azure Functions & Logic Apps.
Azure OpenAI Service.
Azure AI Search / AI Foundry (vector stores).
Data Factory & Databricks for ingestion pipelines.
Azure Blob Storage.
CosmosDB (long-term memory).
Application Insights (logging & monitoring).
DevOps & MLOps
Docker & Azure Container Registry.
Deployment across multiple environments (dev QA prod).
CI/CD automation with GitHub Actions.
Secrets management (Azure Key Vault GitHub HashiCorp Vault).
Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Have Not Mandatory)
Experience in Microsoft Copilot Studio and building AI copilots.
Experience with Microsoft 365 & Graph API integrations.
Skills in Power Automate Dataverse Power Fx or basic Power Apps.
Understanding OAuth 2.0 Entra ID and API rate limits.
Familiarity with Energy & Utilities sector and GDPR.
Knowledge of Agile frameworks Jira Confluence.
Ability to communicate in Portuguese or Spanish.
