Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM) a member of TD Bank Financial Group is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. For over two decades the organization has established competitive market positions in active quantitative and passive portfolio management. As of June 30 2024 TDAM and its affiliates manage over $434 billion in assets on behalf of pension insurance endowment/foundation and corporate clients as well as high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds.

In attaining this client commitment TDAM has built one of Canadas largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers Associate Portfolio Managers Traders and Analysts.

TDAM Derivatives (also called Synthetics) is a highly performance- oriented team that manages various investment mandates on behalf of TDAM retail and institutional pooled funds and ETFs. The team also manages mandates on behalf of segregated clients including pension funds endowments and other institutions. The diverse derivatives mandates span various underlying asset classes including equities fixed income and foreign exchange with assets managed by the team currently standing at almost CAD$ 39 Billion.

Job Description

As a member of the TDAM Derivatives Team the Associate will work closely with other team members to provide daily portfolio management support for all mandates managed by the team. Enhancing efficiency reducing operational and portfolio risks delivery and quick turnaround of daily time-sensitive tasks inside a risk-controlled environment are the key objectives in this role.

Specifically the associate:

  • Will work closely with Portfolio Managers provide support for daily management of derivatives portfolios.
  • Is expected to have thorough understanding of strategies and solutions provided by the Derivatives Team to internal and external clients.
  • Will collaborate with Portfolio Managers and other teams towards the extensive pipeline of research initiatives and development of future innovative solutions.
  • Will work with the team and with TDAM teams to understand existing operational workflow processes and technology infrastructure.
  • Will work to improve current processes through automation process re-engineering and workflow transformation.

Job Requirements

  • Prior minimum of 2 years of work experience in the financial industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong command of derivatives.
  • An aptitude for technology and ability to apply technology in an analytical and portfolio management setting.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must have for this position.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. Excel VBA Python SQL Server Programming etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to effectively communicate solutions to complex problems.
  • An aptitude to innovate and create value added investment solutions.
  • A self-starter who can work well independently with minimal supervision and work effectively within a group.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and time sensitive team environment.

Educational Requirements/Accreditations

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Finance and/or Computer Science
  • A graduate degree with strong interest in Computer Science/Finance will be an asset.
  • Preferably a CFA charter holder or in the process of completing the CFA program
