About the role
Lead and oversee the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across Acute Care providing day-to-day leadership of the acute OT team ensuring efficient ward management patient prioritisation high-quality assessment treatment equipment prescription home assessment and discharge planning.
Provide advanced clinical expertise in acute Occupational Therapy undertaking standardised and functional assessments designing patient-centred interventions and contributing specialised OT input to multidisciplinary care quality initiatives and research activities.
Deliver senior clinical supervision and operational support providing guidance and oversight to senior OT clinicians and students ensuring safe practice fostering professional development and maintaining consistent service standards across acute care.
Drive service development evaluation and quality improvement including collection and review of activity data and outcome measures supporting continuous improvement projects contributing to research and collaborating with the OT Manager to enhance acute OT service delivery.
Manage resources and operational requirements for the Acute OT service overseeing efficient use of human financial and physical resources coordinating weekend service rosters monitoring the OT equipment loan pool and supporting workforce functions such as recruitment leave management and orientation.
Act as a key member of the senior OT leadership group providing organisation-wide occupational therapy advice
Serve as delegate for the OT Manager during periods of supporting broader departmental operations across acute care palliative care rehab and community services as needed.
About you
Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration supported by extensive post-graduate experience in acute hospital settings across a broad range of specialties.
Advanced experience in clinical management with well-developed clinical reasoning skills and the ability to exercise independent professional judgment on both routine and complex matters.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills including supervision of senior staff and other health professionals with the ability to provide high-level advice consultation and education to support excellence in Occupational Therapy service delivery. Capacity to manage teams and commitment to clinical team building is highly desirable.
Experience in quality projects and/or research with a demonstrated commitment to service development initiatives and continuous improvement.
Highly developed oral written and computer skills including experience with presentations project management report writing policies and procedures negotiation and effective time management.
Current unrestricted NSW Class C Drivers Licence with the ability to meet service needs across locations as required.
