Role Overview / Description
Reporting to the CFO the Commercial Finance Director is a critical role sitting at the heart of growth strategy for powerhouse. Unlike many FMCG businesses that are either marketing-led or sales-led this organisation leads equally from both the customer and brand lens and this role is central to making that approach work in practice.
Following a strategic organisation reorg the business is rebuilding processes and commercial capabilities to support ambitious growth plans. This role will translate growth strategy into actionable plans identifying the right customer growth channels and prioritising profitable growth.
You will be the strategic partner to the commercial function influencing pricing strategy optimising trade spend and ensuring commercial decisions are aligned with strategic finance insights. Success means the commercial leaders turn to you for strategic input on any key decision - a relationship that must be earned through credibility commercial acumen and collaborative influence.
Beyond partnering with the commercial team you will shape and galvanise a high potential commercial finance team providing leadership and mentoring to lift their business partnering impact. Currently the team spends more time creating numbers than influencing stakeholders - you will shift this balance building the muscle for commercial finance to drive outcomes.
Another key part of this role will be to lead and shape the FP&A function providing strategic direction to a strong team who will execute the monthly financial drumbeat. You will guide your team in organising complex data from finance customer supply chain and marketing teams ensuring they synthesise and visualise key drivers to narrate a compelling story of performance that the Leadership Team can understand and action. The function is currently unstructured - you will provide the vision and direction to elevate the team from manual data-crunching work to a highly automated rhythm that enables strategic business partnering.

Candidate Profile
We are seeking a CA/CPA/CIMA qualified finance leader with deep commercial finance experience in FMCG environments particularly in trade spend management Revenue Growth Management and FP&A leadership.
Critical to success is your maturity and gravitas - the ability to command respect with senior commercial leaders while remaining approachable and collaborative. You bring exceptional commercial smarts with strategic thinking to translate complex problems into actionable insights articulated succinctly and landed with clarity.
You demonstrate strong leadership capability with evidence of transforming finance functions and building high-performing teams through periods of change. Youre comfortable establishing structure and process where none exists bringing FMCG best practice to elevate capabilities while pragmatically navigating ambiguity and complexity.
You understand what good looks like in commercial finance with the emotional intelligence to influence across sales finance and operations teams.
