Key Responsibilities:
1. Diesel & Gas Generator Maintenance:
o Perform regular maintenance inspections and minor repairs on diesel and gas generators to ensure their smooth operation.
o Troubleshoot mechanical electrical and control issues in diesel and gas generators ensuring minimal downtime.
o Assist in monitoring generator performance and conducting tests (e.g. load tests) to ensure reliable operation.
o Document maintenance activities parts replaced and any modifications made to generator systems.
2. Boiler Management:
o Assist in overseeing the operation and maintenance of boilers ensuring correct water levels pressure settings and fuel usage.
o Perform routine maintenance tasks on boilers including cleaning minor adjustments and part replacements as needed.
o Monitor boiler parameters and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
o Respond promptly to boiler malfunctions and perform corrective maintenance to restore functionality.
3. Utility System Monitoring:
o Regularly monitor the performance of utility systems including electricity water and air systems.
o Assist in maintaining backup systems to ensure reliability in case of emergencies or service interruptions.
o Support energy consumption analysis and assist in identifying opportunities for system optimization and waste reduction.
4. Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure utility systems operate safely and in compliance with internal safety standards and external regulations.
o Conduct safety checks and assist in audits to ensure compliance with environmental and operational safety requirements.
o Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials (e.g. fuel) according to safety guidelines.
5. Emergency Response & Troubleshooting:
o Respond quickly to utility system failures or breakdowns assisting in troubleshooting and repairs.
o Support the operation of backup systems and contribute to restoring normal operations during emergency situations.
o Assist in outage restoration and the safe restart of diesel generators and boilers.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
o Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities repairs and equipment performance.
o Provide regular updates to supervisors on system health maintenance schedules and operational issues.
o Assist with the procurement of spare parts and tools necessary for routine and emergency maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: HND or equivalent; Technical certification or relevant coursework in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Facilities Management or a related field preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance of diesel and gas generators boilers and other utility systems.
Skills:
o Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
o Basic knowledge of diesel/gas generator systems boilers and utility systems.
o Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints.
o Good communication skills and ability to document maintenance activities.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in utility maintenance (e.g. HVAC EPA or OSHA) are a plus.
