About the Institutional Portfolio Management (IPM) Department

The IPM department is part of the CFO org and is responsible for driving strategic execution and transformation across the WGU System. We manage portfolios of enterprise initiatives that align with WGUs 5-Year Strategic Planconnecting strategy to action. Our work enables leaders to execute bold system-wide change by:

  • Designing innovative business processes that improve productivity and scale.
  • Building enterprise capabilities in Agile Innovation Portfolio Management and Rapid Technology Development.
  • Identifying and mitigating enterprise risks while driving cost efficiency and waste reduction.

The Role: Senior Business Process Engineer

As aSenior Business Process Engineeryoullsit at the intersection of strategy innovation and impact. This is not a back-office process chance to architect the systems that will power how 180000 students learn thrive and graduate.

Youlllead some of WGUs most critical enterprise initiatives including building our next-generationBusiness Process Management(BPM)system of recordand driving the maturity of process standards across the university. From enrollment to graduationyoullown full end-to-end student journey domains designingoptimizing and continuously improving them. And because ourprocessownership rotatesyoullgain a unique opportunity to seehow thebusinessfunctionsholistically and shape how an entire universityoperatesend-to-end.

WhatYoullDo

  • Lead transformation projectssuch as WGUs BPM maturity evolution moving from Lucid to SAPSignaviotoestablisha centralized source of truth for all university processes.
  • Own andoptimizeentire student journey domains taking accountability for 12 areas at a time and delivering measurable improvements in efficiency quality and outcomes.
  • Shapeenterprise alignment partnering with leaders in EdTech Finance and Institutional Analytics to create a unified forward-looking process portfolio and strategy.
  • Harness analytics and AIto uncover process insights and create a nimble architecture that accelerates decision-making and execution.
  • Influence at the highest levels presenting findings and recommendations to executives while driving buy-in across stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshopsthat clarifywhatsbroken surface opportunities and move teams toward solutions that matter.

WhatYoullBring

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering(industrial mechanical manufacturing service systems chemical aerospace) or a closely related field.
  • Lean Six SigmaBlack Belt certifiedor equivalent continuous improvement background.
  • 3 years of experience in business process engineering improvement or continuous improvement roles.
  • Strong business acumen (finance analytics ROI quantification).

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Masters degree (Business Administration OperationsResearch Data Analytics Engineering Management) or a closely related field.
  • Experience with BPM tools (SAPSignavioLucidchart or equivalents).
  • Experience in business architectureand process classification frameworks(taxonomyTOGAF APQC ArchiMate businessprocess standards such as BPMN).
  • Experience with TQM and statistical processcontrol techniques(e.g. Minitab).
  • Experience withdata analytics tools likeTableau/Power BI for visualization&insights.
  • Experience workingwith Product and Software Development teams (SDLCAgileetc.)

Work Location

  • This is afull-time in-office positionat WGUs headquarters inSalt Lake City UT.

Position & Application Details
