Boston Higashi School is an internationally recognized leader in autism education serving students ages 322. Our unique Daily Life Therapy methodology integrates academics physical fitness arts and social-emotional development to promote independence confidence and well-being.
As an Academic Support Professional you will play a vital role in helping students thriveworking closely with special education teachers to deliver meaningful engaging and individualized learning experiences.
Job Goal
To assist and support classroom teachers in meeting the academic needs of students with ASD. This role contributes to a wide range of instructional and learning activities that enrich academic success for all students.
What Youll Do
Collaborate with lead teachers to understand daily duties and instructional goals.
Support teachers in gathering assessment data to monitor student progress.
Provide individual or small-group instruction aligned with students IEP goals and classroom lessons.
Offer direct care and individualized support as needed.
Participate fully in student activities including physical exercise such as lifting standing squatting and jogging 13 miles daily.
Supervise students in classrooms hallways cafeterias the school yard gymnasium and during field trips.
Assist teachers in preparing materials for MCAS-Alternate Assessment including organizing data and compiling student work samples.
Prepare lesson materials bulletin boards displays equipment and instructional demonstrations as directed.
Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with the school team to support student learning and classroom success.
Participate in schoolwide events and activities.
Follow Boston Higashi School policies maintain professionalism and uphold confidentiality at all times.
Serve as a positive role model for students.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and other supervisors.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a related field (required)
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to take direction and work collaboratively
High level of energy and physical stamina
