Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Assistant supports the implementation of the NTD Integration into the broader health System by facilitating planning coordination monitoring and documentation of integrated NTD activities at the regional zonal and woreda levels. The role ensures that key interventionssuch as integrated MDA campaign morbidity management surveillance and integration of NTD services into PHC structures are effectively implemented through strengthened government systems. This position works closely with regional/zonal/woreda health offices community health platforms health facilities and Amref technical teams to ensure quality delivery timely reporting commodity management and improved capacity for sustainable NTD service integration.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Support for NTD Integration into the Health System

  • Assist in embedding NTD preventive diagnostic and treatment services into PHC services including routine OPD surgical outreach HEW packages and facility-level workflows.
  • Support woreda and facility teams to incorporate NTD indicators into DHIS2 supervisory checklists and routine review meetings.
  • Facilitate integration of MMDP and TT services into hospitals/health centers including referral pathways case tracking and follow-up mechanisms.
  • Support operationalization of government NTD integration guidelines SOPs and job aids at health facility and community levels.
  • Collaborate with HEWs health centers and NTD focal persons to improve case detection referral and community-based follow-up.

Project Implementation & Coordination

  • Support the implementation of integrated field-level activities including MDA campaigns integrated outreach services morbidity management demonstrations and surveillance strengthening.
  • Assist woreda/zonal health offices in micro-planning activity scheduling and resource allocation for integrated NTD interventions.
  • Participate in joint supportive supervision and mentorship sessions with government teams.
  • Follow up on action points from joint monitoring visits review meetings and quality improvement sessions.

Monitoring Data Quality and Reporting

  • Collect compile and validate data on integrated NTD activities from woredas and health facilities.
  • Support health facilities to record and report NTD indicators using standard MOH and project tools.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis and prepare summaries for submission to the Project Manager.
  • Support data quality assessments (DQA) coverage validation case verification and MMDP audits.
  • Document success stories field innovations community feedback and lessons learned for adaptive management.

Stakeholder Engagement & Health System Strengthening

  • Maintain strong coordination with regional zonal and woreda health offices especially NTD focal points MCH/PHC focal persons and disease prevention teams.
  • Participate in integrated planning review and capacity-building sessions led by government structures.
  • Support organization of training for HEWs facility staff TT surgeons and NTD focal persons on integrated service delivery.
  • Strengthen multisectoral partnerships with community groups schools CSOs and local associations involved in NTD prevention and control.

      Administrative Operational & Financial Support

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for trainings review meetings supervision visits and workshops.
  • Ensure documentation of all field expenditures activity reports transport logs distribution records and attendance sheets.
  • Ensure timely submission of travel requests liquidations logistical plans and procurement requests

 


Qualifications :

Required Qualifications Skills & Experience Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Public Health Nursing Environmental Health Health Officer or other health-related fields.

Experience

  • Minimum of 34 years experience in public health programs preferably related to NTDs PHC integration community health or disease control.
  • Experience working directly with government health systems at woreda or facility level.
  • Experience with integrated outreach campaigns MDA TT surgery surveillance or morbidity management is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting data collection data quality and health facility reporting systems.

Skills & Competencies

  • Understanding of NTD programming health system strengthening and PHC integration approaches.
  • Strong communication coordination and collaboration skills with government and community structures.
  • Good data collection validation and reporting skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in local languages relevant to assigned duty stations is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to field sites.
