Department: Parks & Recreation

Reports To: Parks & Recreation Director

Status: Full Time Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Wage Scale: $36.08-$51.57 DOE (typical starting wage $36.08 - $43.83)

Close Date: December 7 2025

Hours: 40 hours per week additional hours as needed


Position Summary:

This position provides leadership for the departments Recreation Division overseeing a wide variety of programs and services. Performs a variety of administrative supervisory and professional duties related to program development staff management customer service and the daily operations and maintenance of recreation facilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead staff in the development planning coordination and delivery of a wide variety of programs and services based on the needs of the community.
  • Oversee performance measurement efforts and seek continuous innovation and improvement in program offerings scheduling and pricing to meet the diverse needs of residents and visitors;
  • Hire train and evaluate recreation staff including coordinators facility maintenance and front desk personnel;
  • Assign tasks and provide clear written and oral instructions; assign duties and examine work for exactness neatness effectiveness customer service and conformance to policies and procedures;
  • Oversee the maintenance and daily operations of the Community Center Community Center grounds and Jensen Building;
  • Schedule and execute painting and field preparation;
  • Communicate regularly with the Director on ongoing projects facility needs and program developments;
  • Provide recommendations to the Director on the divisions budget major equipment purchases and requests for new or enhanced services;
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service addressing participant and community feedback complaints and grievances;
  • Clearly communicate information about programs memberships admission rates and department policies and procedures to the public in a timely and effective manner;
  • Provides support for internal departmental divisions ensuring effective coordination with parks operations and special events;
  • Actively participate in committees as assigned;
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative work environment that includes but is not limited to a spirit of cooperation with co-workers peers and the public;
  • Availability to work nights and weekends when needed;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Director

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sports procedures rule interpretations and field/court dimensions
  • Knowledge of concurrent sports equipment practices and uses
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management
  • Skilled in handling multiple projects with interruptions
  • Skilled in prioritizing and organizing workload to meet deadlines
  • Skilled in machines and tools including their uses repair and maintenance
  • Skilled in watching indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Ability to receive and follow instructions

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit talk hear see drive stand walk climb balance stoop kneel crawl push pull reach lift move and carry up to 50 pounds grasp twist above the waist and bend at the waist. The employee is also required to be able to coordinate two or more limbs while sitting standing or lying down.

While performing the duties of this job Work is moderately quiet while in an office setting and generally loud noise or very loud noise (ex. large earth-moving equipment lawn mowers painting machine) while in the field. Work can be performed in outdoor settings and in all weather conditions. Individuals are exposed to hazards associated with lawn and building maintenance including smoke noxious odors fumes chemicals liquid chemicals solvents and oils.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Physical Education or related field and
  • 5 or more years of experience in recreation programming general maintenance with 2 years of management experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Class D Drivers License
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 1 year of hire
  • Off Highway Certification within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified NFHS Official (Baseball/Basketball/Football)
  • Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP)
