The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Traverse City that are seeking skilled HR Generalists. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for manufacturing production and skilled trades positions.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations including conflict resolution disciplinary actions and grievance handling.
  • Ensure compliance with federal state and local labor laws including OSHA regulations specific to manufacturing environments.
  • Administer compensation benefits and leave programs including FMLA and workers' compensation claims.
  • Support performance management processes talent development and training initiatives for the plant workforce.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and HRIS data generating reports and analytics as needed.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and facilitate offboarding processes for plant employees.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws including OSHA regulations relevant to manufacturing.
  • Proven ability in employee relations conflict resolution and performance management.
  • Experience with full-cycle recruitment for a variety of roles including production and skilled trades.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and data management.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Multilingual proficiency (e.g. Spanish) to support a diverse workforce.
  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce or collective bargaining.
  • Background in developing or administering safety programs and compliance in a production environment.
