Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize product designs using CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings specifications and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Conduct design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) analyses.
• Collaborate with manufacturing quality and R&D teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Support prototyping testing and validation of new and revised designs.
• Analyze and resolve design-related production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Select appropriate materials and components based on performance cost and manufacturing requirements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Inventor CATIA)
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. machining injection molding sheet metal fabrication additive manufacturing)
• Knowledge of material science and selection for various applications (e.g. metals plastics composites)
• Experience applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
• Ability to perform engineering calculations simulations (e.g. FEA) and tolerance analysis
• Experience with prototyping testing and validation of mechanical designs

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced simulation tools (e.g. FEA CFD) for design validation and optimization.
• Demonstrated expertise in specific manufacturing processes (e.g. injection molding casting additive manufacturing).
• Certification or experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g. 3D printing CNC machining).
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g. Python VBA) for design automation or data analysis.
