Job Title: Technical Specialist / Lead Architect - Automotive Networking Architecture
Department: Automotive Engineering Services - E/E Systems
Location: Chennai Tamil Nadu
Experience Level: 6-8 Years
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly specialized and consultative Lead Architect to lead the design and implementation of robust high-bandwidth in-vehicle communication networks for our global OEM and Tier 1 clients. This senior role requires unparalleled expertise in network protocols topology optimization and critical features like network management and power management including deep knowledge of NMPDU implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Strategy
- Topology Design: Lead the design and optimization of complex vehicle network topologies (e.g. Domain Zonal High-Speed Backbone) to support critical functions like autonomous driving (AD) advanced infotainment and centralized compute architectures.
- Protocol Mastery: Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all in-vehicle communication protocols including Automotive Ethernet (BroadR-Reach 100/1000BASE-T1) CAN FD FlexRay and LIN defining their optimal usage and integration.
- DBC packaging: Arbitrate functional to signal requirements with respective suppliers and defining networking signals and package the message frames. DBC file creation for CAN
- Network Management (NMPDU): Define and oversee the implementation of Network Management protocols with expert focus on NMPDU structure and utilization for bus monitoring system wake-up/sleep logic and diagnostic communication across the network.
- Bandwidth & Latency: Perform comprehensive network load analysis bandwidth provisioning and latency analysis to ensure strict Quality of Service (QoS) for safety-critical and real-time functions.
- Cybersecurity Integration: Define the networking architecture requirements necessary to meet automotive cybersecurity standards (ISO 21434) including secure gateway design intrusion detection and hardware-level firewall strategies.
Tooling Consulting & Leadership
- Modeling & Simulation: Lead the creation of detailed network models and perform dynamic simulations using specialized tools (e.g. Vector PREEvision CANoe or similar) to validate architectural decisions protocol interactions and NMPDU timing behavior.
- Client Consulting: Provide high-level technical consulting to clients advising on network technology roadmaps standardization efforts (AUTOSAR Classic/Adaptive) and critical infrastructure decisions (e.g. switch and gateway placement).
- Requirements Translation: Translate high-level vehicle functional requirements into detailed network architecture specifications and NMPDU communication matrices.
- Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level technical guidance during prototype and validation phases to resolve complex network communication failures and performance bottlenecks often tied to network management issues.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of experience dedicated to in-vehicle networking architecture design and development.
- Network Management: Deep practical expertise in automotive Network Management (NM) specifically the design and implementation of NMPDU structures and logic for CAN/CAN FD and LIN.
- Networking Expertise: Mastery of Automotive Ethernet and associated standards including switch configuration time-sensitive networking (TSN) and Diagnostics over IP (DoIP).
- Standards Compliance: Deep working knowledge of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) principles as applied to network communication integrity and redundancy and ISO 21434 for network security.
- Protocols: Expert-level knowledge of legacy and modern automotive protocols (CAN LIN FlexRay CAN FD).
- Modeling Tools: Extensive hands-on experience with E/E architecture and network modeling/simulation tools (e.g. PREEvision Rhapsody or similar).
- Network Testing: Create a test plan for all types of networks used in the vehicle ( CAN LIN Ethernet). Load testing physical layer testing signal testing topology interference testing security testing.
- Service Provider Experience: Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering network architecture projects in an engineering service or consulting capacity.
Qualifications
- Masters degree (preferred) or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Recognized technical expert in automotive networking (e.g. active participation in industry working groups specialized certifications).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills tailored for both technical teams and executive clients.
