Job Summary
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical-Surgical Unit
Location: Pikeville KY
Shift Options: Days or Nights
Weekly Pay: $2950
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct and comprehensive nursing care to adult patients on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This role requires strong clinical judgment proficiency in cardiac monitoring and the ability to care for diverse patient populations in a fast-paced acute care environment. Effective communication teamwork and adherence to high-quality care standards are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe evidence-based nursing care to patients requiring medical-surgical and telemetry monitoring.
Monitor cardiac rhythms recognize abnormalities and escalate concerns promptly.
Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately.
Administer medications treatments and IV therapies according to provider orders.
Manage complex patient care plans and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
Operate monitor and interpret telemetry equipment effectively.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Educate patients and families on treatment plans procedures and discharge instructions.
Follow infection control standards and all patient safety guidelines.
Participate in bedside shift reports and detailed handoffs to ensure continuity of care.
Perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications
Active unrestricted RN license.
Minimum 12 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience.
Strong competency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation.
BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.
Ability to work 48-hour weekly schedules including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Skills
Prior travel nursing experience.
Experience in high-acuity or fast-paced hospital settings.
Strong ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing patient needs.
