About the Role
As a Yard Scheduler you will play a key role in ensuring the safe efficient and timely coordination of yard rail operations across Rio Tintos world-class autonomous heavy haul railway. This position requires strong attention to detail collaboration and agility to manage complex scheduling and operational priorities.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor of Train Control Scheduling you will:
Report daily on yard KPIs with focus on performance resource allocation and
maintenance compliance in the daily department meeting
Schedule train arrivals and departures from 7M and CL
Coordinate yard rail operations in consultation with Train Control and the Rail
Operations Production Supervisors at 7 Mile and Cape Lambert to ensure efficient yard movements
Communicate priority of movements throughout the shift to Train Control for execution
Coordinate the delivery of scheduled wagons and locomotives for maintenance
Coordinate Yard track maintenance as per the daily obstruction plan
Code daily obstruction execution compliance
Participate in 6hr planning meetings with CL/7M/ISP to build the 6hr execution plan
Recording of all production delays

Previous Rail yard experience
Scheduling and/or maintenance planning experience

Where you will be working
This role is being offered in Perth based out of our Operations Centre near the Perth Airport. Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 17 mines across the Pilbara via 1700km of track. With depots located at Tom Price Cape Lambert and Dampier (7 Mile) each train comprises up to three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.5 kilometres in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network.
